Absence makes the heart grow fonder…

22 08 2009

Incessant complaints from the Goddess not withstanding, have decided to blog about subjects that I relate better to .  A blog a day keeps the Twitter away…

Some events and then some silence…

15 07 2009

Have endured what is commonly known as Blogitis..A common condition affecting those who are frequently on Twitter, it has enabled me to endure some world-changing events, atleast personally.

1. MJ decides to leave Mother Earth and spread his genius at wherever he’s decided to go.

2. Three different flights from different countries have crashed killing more or less the same number. As they say after some point, death is a mere number. Air France followed by Yemen Airways and now breaking news another one from Iran.

3. My wife’s grandmother has left for her heavenly abode this past week. A kind lady and a genius in the kitchen, she always had a kind word but a temper to match when things did not go her way in the kitchen. Gordon Ramsay be damned.

While my romance was budding/blooming and I made frequent visits to the lady’s abode, never was I questioned on my purpose there. I was merely accepted as an acquaintance who will make his presence (better) felt soon. Upon declaring my honorable intentions about her grand-daughter I was asked to tie the knot and enjoy my maritaldom. She was kind enough to grace the occassion by her presence and bless us for the conjugal life ahead. May her soul rest in peace…

A cough, a surprise and I am old…

26 06 2009

Heeellllllp, she yelped as the clock eased ito the twilight hour. Not wanting to be disturbed and also not wanting to look a dispassionate husband, I awoke to find my wife bathed in sweat and frothing at the mouth. All she wanted was water something she could have woken me up and asked.

Griping and finding my way about the hallway and switching on the lights, I found to my delight a cake sitting on the dining table and the room decorated with balloons and dunce caps. Not wanting to sound too sentimental, it felt good, not great for turning a year older brings you that much closer to the Maker. Well the day went off fine barring a monstrous wait of three hours for the flight home. And no, I shall not wait that much on Twitter…Boohoo to you blog…

Couching along – 1

13 06 2009

Strange yes but not unsurprising, are the tantrums my wife throws when sees me wiggling my toes in front of the television come weekend. Well, pray tell me my fell homosapiens, what are weekends for? Here’s the ugly list:

  • Catch up with Telly. With the T20 Cup on, there definitely is an incentive
  • Catch up with some movies thus collected but not even peeked at, save a forgotten Sharon Stone flick
  • Catch up with some guilt surfing. Am not going to expand into this further for my wife can and will definitely read this.

I am sure there are a lot of tales out there, running parallel to mine when I say this that my weekend is ruined the moment my better half sees me on the bed past 10 with either of these in my hand: Remote / DVD / Laptop. With all the electronic surveillance rendered useless with some pretty good third eye surveillance, I proceed to wiggle my toes which wangles a huge harrumppph from the already frothy mouth (it was really pretty when I married). Willing myself to haul my reluctant posterior off my four-poster heaven, I proceed towards the faucet which ideally should have been alien to me till one in the afternoon. Post the rituals, I proceed to the dining table for a rather early breakfast and having ingested much to Quaker’s joy, I throw on some clothes enough to look presentable for the mistress of the house to shoo-shoo me.

And lo, behold here comes something that should have come sixty minutes ago. Sensing my superficial willing mood, the wife excuses me from further duties. I merely look up cursing my luck on a waning Saturday morning and then proceed to, in respective order, to procedure the above-mentioned tasks. I am posting this at one on Sunday and rest assured, I had a blissful Saturday. I know I am making these blissful days extinct by committing my words to electronic print but living by the edge on a Sunday morning comes naturally to me.

More to come.

Break from twittering…

10 06 2009

Well Twittering isn’t so exciting after all. Leaving short telegraphic messages for someone else to follow doesn’t work after a while. Any ways, have been to quite a few restaurants and have managed to dig into them based on which their reputation is built. This week I cover the Surmai of Gokul Restuarant located opposite Bade Miyan. Am still not convinced whether it is a place where women can sit down for a drink and a plate of well done Surmai. Leery-eyed men with salacious gazes manage to disrobe the girls sitting there. Back to the food, the Surmai is quite well made thought it could do with a bit of presentation. But as Jamie Olivier puts it, presentation is for covering up the flaws. If that is the case, who cares?

Stuttering and Twittering…

3 06 2009

For those of you who missed me here, I have been twittering for a while now..It is like one of those new toys which I just can’t get enough of. I don’t mean any sexual ‘helpers’ which Pune doesn’t seem to get enough of but hell it is easy and the telgrammatic style is a quiet juxtaposition to my usual verbosity.

Will try my best to maintain my regularity here but for those who like to hear me on a regular basis shall continue to do so at www.twitter.com/kfms. Let me ciao from here and twitter for a while….Will be back I promise…

The honeymoon continues?

29 04 2009

Or doesn’t it? Marriage is like the puffiness under the eyes. It does add gravity to the face (who needs it, when Newton is still working his charm) but at the same time you really wouldn’t want to look like you had one Patiala too many the previous night, do you? Either ways, it has worked out fine so far and I can hear the lady harrumphing in the background. Hey we weren’t meant to agree on everything right? Wouldn’t we then be clones and then a possible quarantine for the swine flu (Wasn’t pig the first animal to be cloned? Either that or I don’t know what Dolly is).

Other events that have taken place ever since I was away, Kasab is on trial and he now has a male minority lawyer and I don’t hear anyone making much of a noise. Was it always about him being a Muslim? Terrorism never had any religion, was something that was lost in the Sena rhetoric.

Varun comes out of jail, and he’s been quite as a mouse ever since. The mosquitoes in the Pilibhit jail must have found him to be a gracious host. Strictly warned by Maneka not to swat them, he proceeded to make the requisite blood donation and was instructed to take on the bigger bulls in the upcoming electoral circus (wasn’t she against this too?).

Pakistan is being taken over by Taliban and the dreaded terror is much closer to us then we ever imagined to be. What do we do now? What can we really do now? What can we do post-elections? When do we realize that terrorism has realized that the world is really a flat place.

And oh, the biggest circus of them all (read elections) is already on. The leaders in aamchi Andhra Pradesh are done with their campaigning and are now taking recourse in cooler climes to cure their blistered skins. Am sure they will change it soon for they are chameleons aren’t they? All this talk about third, fourth fronts must have given them enough thirst.

Have deliberately not recollected all the gaffes so far for i have a Top 10 on it coming up soon. Watch this space, folks…

As for the quizzing scene, marriage has given me conjugal rights but taken away my quizzing rights. Giveth some, taketh many away..Quite a justice, eh?

A bit of this and that…

23 03 2009

This month has been quite an amount of ‘hit’ already…Two quizzes giving me some much needed cash respite and then the HITCH. Yes, my dear unaswering netizens…I have married a girl who is as far away from quizzing as Varun Gandhi is from political diplomacy. Not that it would take me away from quizzing. Quizzing would be, ahem how do I put it…, a continuing mistress to me. A bit moody perhaps and “success’ not exactly a constant factor..Will get back to posting some questions beginning this week..And as far as the themes go, this week would be all about the marriages that have rocked / shocked the world so far…..And no, Darva Conger and Jade Goody aren’t part of this quiz….

Some mixed success….

7 03 2009

It’s been a mixed success so far. Win some lose some but the take aways have been amazing…I am talking about the quizzes. In other news, the D-day is approaching and I am approaching with some measure of dread. It should be like Holi Redux. Relatives pulling your god knows what in a vain bid to know you…

Have been on a Telugu movie watching spree…And here’s the result:

Guilt pleasure: Sainikudu / Movie of the week: Ashta Chemma

Upcoming marquee…

27 02 2009
